Debra Brause, Psy.D. Clinical Psychologist
Los Angeles: Studio City
I received a B.A. in English from the University of Pennsylvania and continued my graduate studies with a Masters and Doctorate in Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP). CSPP is accredited by the American Psychological Association and is a multicultural program designed to train psychologists to work as clinicians with diverse populations.
My professional training includes diagnostic assessment for learning disabilities at the UCLA Office for Students with Disabilities, and clinical work in community mental health settings including The Southern California Counseling Center and the Maple Counseling Center. I also received two years of training at the Wright Institute Los Angeles where I completed a postgraduate fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. I spent three further years in a psychoanalytic consultation group led by a senior training analyst and currently participate in two ongoing consultation groups with a training analyst and peer professionals.
I have served as an adjunct professor of Human Development at Alliant International University and as a clinical supervisor to interns at The Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills. I currently supervise at Valley Community Clinic in North Hollywood, CA. I am a professional member of the Los Angeles County Psychological Association, the Maple Counseling Center Alumni Association and the Wright Institute Alumni Association.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, I spent ten years in the entertainment industry, working in television production, news, and as a studio development executive. My work with writers crosses into my therapy practice as I help to move through psychological blocks and provide guidance toward finding one’s ideal creative path.
